What does hail damage to your roof look like?

Different roofing materials can be damaged in a variety of different ways. Damage done to wood shingles will look different than damage done to composition or asphalt shingles. Knowing the difference is important, and more than likely you will need an inspection from a professional to confirm any damage.

Wood Shingles can have the following; impacts or dents along the splits, a split in the shingle that may have sharp edges or corners, a split in the shingle that has varying degrees of deterioration at the edges, a split in the shingle that appears orange or brown in color or random damage that has no notable pattern.

Composition or asphalt shingles that are damaged can look like the following; random damage that has no notable pattern, spots where the hail hit that are soft to the touch, similar to a bruise on a piece of fruit, loss of granules that could expose the roof felt, marks from hail hits that are black in color and mat and/or asphalt that has a shiny appearance.

There are also many types of damage that are similar to hail damage but are caused for a different reason. We understand the stress that comes after severe weather, contact us today for a free inspection. S.W.A.T. can handle all of your roofing and contracting needs!
